Vintage Rolled Gold Snakeskin Pattern Bangle, 8”
I have a fascination with snake jewelry. Not everyone's favorite, I know. But for those of us who like it, the obsession is real.
The snake motif has been popular for millennia -- its symbolism far-ranging. Egyptian pharaohs believed the serpent was a symbol of deity and royalty. The Romans revered the snake as a symbol of knowledge and everlasting love, while the Greeks associated the snake with the Aesculapius, the god of medicine.
Fast forward to the Victorians, and the love of snake jewelry exploded after Prince Albert gave his bride Queen Victoria a continuous serpent ring set with her birthstone, the emerald, to represent their everlasting love.
Of course, the fashion industry loves anything to do with snakes too--turning the snakeskin print into an enduring symbol of luxe style.
This sexy bangle is a nod to all of that tradition. She's from the 1940s, made of rolled gold with a faceted surface designed to look like snakeskin.
The gold finish is soft and twinkly, with a few slightly worn areas. She's been loved and looks edgier for it.
If you love wrist stacks, mixing up textures, adding a little sex appeal--then this bangle may be for you. She looks great piled on with other bracelet and bangles, a chunky watch, lots of rings. You get the idea...
Lightweight and comfy to wear, she'll become a favorite.
